Up and up and up.

Up the visitor goes.

Crawling round and round the tower’s skin.

Confined within the bricks.

Strange objects encountered on each floor.

The visitor ends up back where they started, in Hackney, staring at its subtle canopy.

Set within Hackney’s iconic St Augustine’s tower, Strange Loop sees fives artists delve into the

realm of myth, folklore, domesticity and cultural identity. Exploring female narratives, they use

both personal and universal iconography all within the tower’s dizzying heights.

Artists Sarah Davis, Silvia De Giorgi, Lara Domeneghetti, Silje Loa and Leonie Silye seek to unravel the loops we embody, whilst walled within a space that traditionally seeks to contain them.
